We make our Nantucket staves from kiln dried wood, The staves come in 50 & 100 foot packs. The stave material is 2 foot long & 1/16th of an inch thick. All of the staves must be soaked before use. Unlike frozen green staves there is no special storage requirements. If you want to make a sturdy long lasting Nantucket Basket you will want to use a wood stave. Many of the original Nantucket Baskets were made of Oak, Ash & Hickory. If you would like a sample send a SAS envelope. Please be sure to specify what wood type you would like. Samples are 6 inch pieces. Nantucket Baskets are fun to make and when you are done you will have a basket that you can pass down.
